Introduction: The training aims to provide understanding of the international principles of protection of human rights and processes related to their implementation on a national or regional level. Further the training is to highlight importance and set ground for developing or improving skills in assessing the needs, enabling its participants to identify vulnerabilities (sexual and gender based violence, survivors of torture, basics of child protection) and understand the best practices in prevention and protection of vulnerable groups.
Objectives:
Overall objective of the training is to ensure the rights of refugees/asylum seekers are protected through the process of their identification. In detail, the trainees will gain understanding on the principles of international protection, international human rights standards and principles of humanitarian response to the refugee influx. Upon the training they will be equipped with basic skills of identification of vulnerabilities and their protection in line with above mentioned human rights standards and related, national legal framework
Training Contents:
- International law related to protection of refugees
- Definitions and identification of different groups (asylum seekers, refugees, migrants, children)
- Producing a guideline that can be used in their future work
- Practical side of such international regulations - what is the existing situation on the ground
- Producing the guideline on how the protection should be implemented
- Identification of vulnerabilities:
- Definitions (SGBV, survivor of torture, a child, elderly, women)
- Different groups – different needs: risks entailed to specific vulnerability;
- Response to different needs
- Tools for needs assessments
- Practical exercise
- Compilation of the documents drafted in previous days
